Privacy policy
Effective October 1, 2026
Drug or Demon is a game about distinguishing prescription-drug names from names found in demon folklore. This policy explains how the operator of Drug or Demon handles information when you play, create an account, or contact us.
Information we collect
- Gameplay: answers, scores, challenge dates, encounter history, and session timestamps. Random browser identifiers let us restore your game and calculate aggregate score comparisons without requiring an account. These identifiers are pseudonymous, not a guarantee of anonymity.
- Accounts: Clerk manages authentication. When you sign in with Google, Clerk receives your basic profile information, such as your name, email address, and profile image, and associates your account with a user identifier. We use account identifiers to connect gameplay and saved statistics to your account.
- Technical information: our hosting and authentication providers process connection information, such as IP addresses, browser information, and request logs, to deliver and secure the site.
- Support: if you email us, we receive your email address and the information you include in your message.
Google account information
Google sign-in is used to authenticate you and create or access your game account. We do not request access to your Gmail messages, Google Drive files, calendar, or contacts. We do not use Google account information for advertising, sell it, or use it to train artificial intelligence models. Access to Google user data is limited to operating and securing your account and providing support you request. Our use of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
How we use and share information
We use information to operate the game, restore progress, show your saved statistics, calculate aggregate score comparisons, prevent abuse, and respond to requests. Other players see aggregate comparisons rather than your account email or individual account profile.
Service providers process information needed for their work: Vercel hosts the site; Neon stores gameplay data; Clerk provides authentication; Google provides Google sign-in; and PostHog provides optional analytics. Support email is handled by our email forwarding and inbox providers. We may also disclose information when required by applicable law or necessary to protect the service and its users. We do not sell personal information.
Cookies and optional analytics
Essential cookies support game continuity, sessions, and authentication. Our game browser and session cookies can last up to one year. Clearing them may remove access to guest progress on that browser. Local storage remembers your analytics preference.
If you choose “Allow analytics,” PostHog can collect page views, game interactions, browser and device information, approximate location derived from your connection, and interaction recordings. When you are signed in, we also send your account identifier and primary email address to link analytics across visits and devices, and mark the operator account so internal testing can be filtered out. Input fields are masked in these recordings. Optional PostHog collection starts only after you consent. You can decline or change your choice using “Privacy choices” in the game footer; declining does not prevent play. Changing your choice stops future collection but does not automatically delete previously collected data.
Retention and your choices
We retain gameplay and account-linked records to provide progress and statistics, and retain support or security records as needed for support, security, and legal obligations. There is currently no fixed automatic deletion schedule for gameplay records. Information may be processed outside your country by our service providers.
You can play the daily game without signing in, decline optional analytics, clear browser data, or revoke Google access in your Google account settings. Revoking access does not itself delete existing game records. For account deletion, access, correction, or other privacy requests, email support@drugordemon.net. We may need to verify your identity before acting. Some records may need to be retained for legal or security reasons; deleting an account may remove access to its saved statistics.
Children and policy updates
The service is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can investigate and address it. We will update this page and its effective date when our practices change.
